@bbantz18 shared a great message on “mentality” yesterday during our baseball clinic. . “I honored God in my mentality through the way I competed, the work I put in to be great. I honor God in how I work towards my goal.“

Sometimes people question how we can be fierce competitors and honor God at the same time.. and question if that’s even possible. It’s absolutely possible! In fact God tells us in Colossians 3:23 “whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, and not for men.” This applies on and off the field.

We are to give our very best! We are to work harder than if we were just working to make our coach happy, our parents happy or make the fans happy. We are to give it all for Jesus because He gave it all for us on the cross. We are confident beyond reason because our confidence lies in Christ. We do not trust in our own abilities but solely rely on the power of God. When we compete with that mentality, there is victory and God is glorified!

Amen bro!!! Bc of Jesus we now live under the freedom of grace and assurance. This truth, that solely rests upon Jesus and the cross, allows us as athletes to compete with absolute freedom and to give it our all bc we know that “success/winning” or “failure/losing” doesn’t define us. The fear of failing no longer has its sting bc our identity is firmly in who God says we are bc of Jesus, not what people say we are based on stats from a piece of paper! How great is it to know whether I go 0-4 or 4-4 it doesn’t effect who I am as a person!! This allows me to have a mentality to compete and work toward my goal with out any fear!!
