Stitch with: @totsontarget Your baby skipped crawling and went straight to cruising the couch. Before that 2am Google spiral, read this 👇 This week on @thepedsdoctalkpodcast I sat down with Jena Schultz, DPT (@drivingdevelopment), a pediatric physical therapist and board certified pediatric specialist, to talk about motor milestones and why social media makes them feel so much scarier than they need to be. Jena said something I want every parent to hold onto. Development happens on a continuum and in a sequence, and there's no stopwatch running. Rolling can show up anywhere from about 3 to 8 months and still be typical. Milestones come in age ranges, and that range is room for your baby to be your baby. Crawling is a great example. When the CDC and AAP updated their milestone checklists in 2022, crawling came off the list and a lot of people panicked. Jena explained it so clearly. Kids with an underlying condition may have a harder time crawling, and they usually have a harder time with other milestones too. A baby who skips crawling but is babbling, chasing big brother, and pulling to stand is showing you a lot about how they're doing overall. As a pediatrician, I've followed plenty of my "crawling defiant" kids for years. Most turn into coordinated walkers who just wanted to keep up with their siblings. At visits, I look at the whole child: gross motor, find motor, cognitive development, language, social skills, problem solving, and how their body moves in other ways. One skipped skill rarely tells the full story. And if something feels off to you, a check in with your child’s pediatrician is always worthwhile. Comment POD to get the full episode of "Milestones and Myths: The Truth About Tummy Time, Crawling, and More with a Pediatric Physical Therapist." We also get into bottom scooting on slippery floors, W sitting, toe walking, and the two things Jena says should never wait: early head flattening and head turn preference. Did your baby crawl, scoot, roll, or skip it and take off walking? Tell me below 👇 #babymilestones #crawling #babydevelopment #pediatricphysicaltherapy #motormilestones
DANCE OF MOURNING This is a land where death has been turned into law, executions into spectacles, and silence into the price of survival. A land where mothers whisper their children’s names over gravestones instead of singing lullabies. Where every hanging rope tells the story of a life stolen, a voice silenced, and a future destroyed. For decades, the Islamic Republic has staged its dance of death upon the wounded body of Iran. But this is not a dance of surrender. It is the dance of mourning of a nation that has not forgotten, a nation that still carries its wounds, a nation that still stands for freedom. We will neither forgive nor forget.
