@lindacardellini has lived many lives. Audiences first came to love Cardellini as Lindsay Weir, the naive, army-jacket-clad teen in ‘Freaks and Geeks.’ Then came Judy Hale, the toxic yet endearing widow in ‘Dead to Me,’ and Carol Love-Smernitch, the no-nonsense presence in ‘DTF St. Louis,’ a role that recently earned her an Emmy. In fact, there hasn’t been a time in the last few decades when the actress hasn’t given us someone to remember. But her upcoming role in ‘Crystal Lake,’ @peacock’s highly anticipated ‘Friday the 13th’ prequel series, is unlike any other she’s ever had. She’ll play Pamela Voorhees, the franchise’s original female slasher—and an appealing protagonist for the lifelong horror fan to take on. Being able to “dive into this character who is touched upon but makes such a huge impression was a fun idea,” the actress tells ELLE. “She’s obviously not right in the head.” Ahead of the ‘Crystal Lake’ premiere tomorrow, Cardellini sat down with @clairemilch to talk about Pamela Voorhees, her days on ‘Freaks and Geeks,’ the legacy of her iconic ’90s and ’00s roles, and more. Read the full interview at the link in bio. I feel that true creativity (most of the time) should start out as a selfish act rather than something that considers how others would feel about it. If you lean too heavy on others opinions early in your process, you may actually do more damage than good to your own mentality…. It’s a fine line tho. Think about it.😮‍💨📌 How y’all feel about this one?
I love being a woman. Independent, self-sufficient, ambitious. Always learning, always growing. From a young age, I wanted to stand on my own two feet. And I have. I also love sharing my life with Martin, and being Finn’s mother is more than I ever dared to hope for. It took me forever to find Martin. Before him, I often couldn’t imagine spending my whole life beside the men I dated. Honestly, I got bored. I followed my own path, and it usually led somewhere different from theirs. Martin’s path runs alongside mine. Sometimes we drift a little, sometimes life gets terribly dull, haha. Loving someone doesn’t switch off my need for adventure. I love change, a challenge, a new idea. I’m always seeing possibilities and dreaming about things I still want to do. Motherhood and my relationship with Martin are my constants. If he said tomorrow, “Dee, let’s move to…” I’d probably start packing. Depending a little on where, obviously. 😉 I’ve spent my working life being my own boss, building businesses and making my own decisions. More boyish than girly, not much into fuss, but increasingly drawn to the energy of women as I grow older. Women who support other women are my kind of women. In a world where men still hold so much power, supporting each other is a necessity. Challenging the patriarchy also happens in everyday choices: taking women seriously, valuing their work, opening doors and celebrating their success. Today’s power outfit is AndBloom. I love the masculine feel, paired with this beautiful dark blue bag gifted to me by @demellierlondon from their collaboration with @greceghanem I’m so proud of Grece. Seeing her creativity celebrated makes carrying it even more special. I’m a feminist, and I love my men with all my heart. Independence and female selflove fit beautifully into the same life. ❤️ #womencommunity #empoweredwomenempowerwomen
