The shelter at the top of Fuego. We hiked at night to reach it in the cold and rain. It was a steep hike a little over 3,000 ft ascent that went up to 13,000 feet The guides headlamp sucked so I used my cellphone for light. I had no gear, I was soaked but I was wearing out the guide he couldn't keep up.

2023 → 2026. Three years later. More school shootings. More children lost.

🔸Yesterday, three children and a teacher were killed at an elementary school in Oregon. At least 149 shooting incidents have occurred at K–12 schools in the U.S. this year.
🔸In 2023, I spoke with Dr. Lois Lee and Dr. James McCarthy for Katie Couric Media about firearm violence and its devastating impact on children and families.
I’m resharing those conversations because the message remains painfully relevant.
🔸We cannot normalize this. We cannot become numb. And we cannot allow another tragedy to pass without asking what we can do to prevent the next one.
🔸Take one action today: Practice safe firearm storage. Ask your school about violence prevention. Support evidence-based solutions. Learn about the policies being considered in your community.
🔸Make your voice heard. Our children deserve to grow up without fearing for their lives at school.

Awareness matters. But awareness without action is not enough.
