When my grandmother passed, I inherited a lot of her closet. I always shared her love of design and her perfectly practical yet adorable fashion sense. I also conveniently fit into all of her clothes….except for her shoes; a variety of Keds she hand painted with tiny flowers.
Recently, in the attic, in an old trunk, we found a collection of maternity clothes perfectly wrapped in the pages of a 1965 New York Times. My grammy hand sewed this set when she was pregnant with her youngest daughter, my aunt, who was born the day after our baby’s due date. Needless to say, they all fit like a glove and are made for a hot/round girl summer.
Feels like a hug from above. Love you Mackie.
