🇯🇲💚 #DestinConrad continues to give new meaning to a dancehall record with a complicated history. Originally released by T.O.K. in 2001, “Chi-Chi Man” became infamous for its violent anti-gay lyrics, so much so that the group eventually stopped performing it live. Now, Destin has reimagined the record on his ROADRUNNER album, turning it into a celebration of identity while honoring a longstanding tradition of queer Caribbean communities reclaiming the infectious riddim at parties and transforming it into an expression of resilience.
