The decision to limit the Starshield satellite service used by Ukraine’s military came from inside the White House, according to two U.S. officials and a Western official briefed on the matter, speaking to Reuters. They said Defense Department leaders received a message that the service needed to be slowed. They did not say who in the White House sent it or who carried it out. A senior U.S. official told Reuters, “No such request was ever made by the president.” The White House did not answer whether other administration officials might have made it. A senior Ukrainian official said Kyiv made calls to the White House, State Department and Pentagon and was told it was a White House decision. Starshield is the military version of Starlink, built for government customers. Elon Musk wrote on X that because the government owns and controls Starshield systems, any limits are decided by the U.S. military or the president, Reuters reports. SpaceX did not respond to Reuters. Ukrainian officials say the restriction hindered strike missions against Russian forces and logistics in occupied territory and slowed interceptor drones used against Russian Shahed drones. A Ukrainian defense ministry source said Thursday that terminals now work in motion, but only up to 100 mph (160 kph). Barbera Thornhill is the new face of America’s fight against human trafficking, and her welcome post has already been viewed more than 10 million times. Assistant Secretary of State Riley Barnes introduced her on Tuesday as the new Ambassador at Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. President Trump nominated Thornhill in May, and the Senate confirmed her 51 to 47 in August. She’s a Los Angeles business executive and philanthropist who says she worked with Mother Teresa in India in the 1990s, and Trump previously nominated her as ambassador to Singapore in 2019 before that nomination was withdrawn in 2021. Her office leads the State Department’s anti-trafficking work and publishes the annual Trafficking in Persons Report, which holds governments around the world accountable for how they handle the issue. Advocacy group PACT raised concerns during her nomination that she lacks significant experience in federal anti-trafficking policy, while Thornhill has said she plans to treat survivors as partners in shaping policy. Some of these airplane skincare routines are getting a little ridiculous. 😂✈️ Listen, I love skincare as much as anyone, but a 10-step routine at 30,000 feet? HARD PASS! For this week’s Thursdays Under $30: Travel Edition, I’m sharing 4 affordable essentials that ALWAYS make it into my carry-on! ✈️ L’Occitane Mini Hand Cream – Airplane air is so drying, and this little tube keeps my hands soft without feeling greasy. ✈️ Tower 28 SOS Spray – One of my favorites, especially when traveling! It’s made with hypochlorous acid to help calm and soothe irritated skin. A quick refresh without a whole skincare routine. ✈️ Hawaiian Tropic Mineral Powder SPF 30 – Yes, UV rays can reach you through airplane windows! I love this for convenient SPF touch-ups over makeup, although it’s not a replacement for my regular sunscreen. ✈️ Allies of Skin Peptint Lip Treatment – Hydrating, comfortable, and gives my lips a beautiful little tint. Perfect when I don’t want to fuss with lipstick. Nothing complicated. Just a few things that make traveling a little more comfortable! I’m off for a few days of wellness, relaxation, and a little fun with some amazing women! Follow along in my Stories to see where I’m headed and what we’re up to! 🤎 Now tell me, what’s ONE thing you never board a plane without? #ThursdaysUnder30 #TravelEssentials #BeautyOver50 #MatureSkin #travelbeauty

Architecture Reels Archilovers
