How to get enrolled into the PhD programme 👇

1️⃣ You can find an already open PhD position for a specific project that is already running
2️⃣ You can propose your own idea for what you would like to do

If you choose the second option, you need to approach professors directly. Email them and describe:

📌 what you would like to do,
📌 explain why you chose this professor to be a supervisor for a project

💸 Then it's the subject of the available funding for your project. It depends on the country and on the university.

❗️For example, in the UK and the US you need to pay for the PhD education. Or you can be self-funded: you can find some financial supports and then do your research under the supervision of the professor.

🔥 The extra alternative is for engineers. You may seek the support from the industry and do some kind of the hybrid PhD between the academia and industry. In this case you need to contact either the professor that works close to some industry or you need to contact companies directly.
