Laugh is a perfect way to cope with the difficulties you face during your work. Research process is always followed by many challenges for a scientist: stress, work-life balance, anxiety, lack of motivation, conflicts with supervisor or reviewers… 🤯

⚡️ But when you make jokes about these stressful situations, it’s easier to go through them! Make memes your regular routine (but don’t spend too much time on them 😉) to learn how to smile when you think that everything is too complicated!

A lot of students are afraid of going to the labs or applying to the dream positions as they feel they are not qualified enough. But the thing is — you shouldn’t be afraid! Especially, when you can understand your weaknesses 😎

A piece of advice by Prof. Valev that is worth following to believe in yourself 🔥

We missed you! It’s been a long month without any news from STEMM.Global, and we’re really sorry about that ✨

The wisdom of the day that we wanted to share with you: never underestimate the possibility of technical problems. Always save your paper during the writing process from time to time, always check whether you turned on the the alarm sound on your phone, and don’t rely on the social media stability 🤪

But we managed to solve all the technical problems, and we’re here with you again! Stay tuned for more news and academic career coaching 🔥

How to get enrolled into the PhD programme 👇

1️⃣ You can find an already open PhD position for a specific project that is already running
2️⃣ You can propose your own idea for what you would like to do

If you choose the second option, you need to approach professors directly. Email them and describe:

📌 what you would like to do,
📌 explain why you chose this professor to be a supervisor for a project

💸 Then it's the subject of the available funding for your project. It depends on the country and on the university.

❗️For example, in the UK and the US you need to pay for the PhD education. Or you can be self-funded: you can find some financial supports and then do your research under the supervision of the professor.

🔥 The extra alternative is for engineers. You may seek the support from the industry and do some kind of the hybrid PhD between the academia and industry. In this case you need to contact either the professor that works close to some industry or you need to contact companies directly.
