#NEWS - #BankOfAmerica was hit with more than $1.2 billion in federal penalties Tuesday after regulators said it failed for years to fix anti-money-laundering problems and report more than $5 billion in suspicious transactions on time.

According to Treasury, more than $1 billion of that activity involved potential national security threats and other high-priority risks, including suspected Chinese money laundering networks and illicit finance tied to the southwest border.

FinCEN imposed a $1.2 billion penalty, the third largest in Treasury history, while Treasury separately announced an $11.6 million settlement over apparent sanctions violations.

It all starts with being delusional enough to understand that you’re capable of doing it.
