This commission was a lot of fun. These actors helped paved the way for black women in Hollywood. I really enjoyed capturing the feeling of vintage photography. It’s so interesting how style has changed and how far technology has come. Throughout the process of finding the references I wanted to draw, I learned a lot more about what black women in Hollywood had to endure simply for being black women in a white male dominated industry. It comes as no surprise that black women still face similar challenges today. Rest In Peace Dorothy Dandridge and Ruby Dee.
