Whose music do you enjoy more.. Aaliyah’s or Rihanna’s? And don’t say both! Lol Pick one! Baby girl or Bad gal? For me it’s Aaliyah. Her self titled album lives in my head rent free! I Care 4 U is one of the best R&B songs ever. Anti is my favorite Rihanna album. Consideration is a fire track to kick off the project. #aaliyah #rihanna #sketch #doodle #art #music by @blkshad_art
Ruby Dee 1950 Dorothy Dandridge 1958 Pam Grier 1974 Which portrait is your favorite? This commission was a lot of fun. These actors helped paved the way for black women in Hollywood. I really enjoyed capturing the feeling of vintage photography. It’s so interesting how style has changed and how far technology has come. Throughout the process of finding the references I wanted to draw, I learned a lot more about what black women in Hollywood had to endure simply for being black women in a white male dominated industry. It comes as no surprise that black women still face similar challenges today. Rest In Peace Dorothy Dandridge and Ruby Dee. by @blkshad_art
