A Vande Bharat Express gliding across the world’s highest railway arch bridge, surrounded by towering mountains and a deep river valley, has become the internet’s latest visual spectacle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared stunning drone footage of the train crossing the iconic Chenab Railway Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, drawing widespread attention on social media. The cinematic video captures the Vande Bharat travelling across the massive steel structure in Reasi district, suspended hundreds of metres above the Chenab River. A drone follows the train while moving around the bridge, capturing dramatic angles from beneath the towering arch to above the railway tracks. PM Modi described the engineering achievement as marvellous and ambitious, with the footage attracting millions of views. Standing 359 metres above the riverbed, the Chenab Railway Bridge is approximately 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The structure stretches 1,315 metres across the valley and features a massive 467-metre steel arch. Built in one of India’s most challenging mountainous regions, the bridge is designed to withstand extreme winds and seismic activity. The bridge was inaugurated by PM Modi on June 6, 2025, as part of the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. The railway corridor represents a major infrastructure milestone, providing an all-weather rail connection between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of India’s railway network. The viral footage comes shortly after another significant railway achievement. On October 2, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a video showing a Vande Bharat Express crossing both the Chenab and Anji Khad bridges at 100 kmph for the first time, following an increase in the permitted speed on the Katra-Banihal section.
