Kenichi didn’t even try to hide his interest for Mishiru ever since she gave him any attention. He already had his eye on her ever since she stepped inside the village and she knew it. He was quick to offer help and friendship, wanting to know more about her. Mishiru, on the other hand, didn’t really pay much attention to him. He was a shinobi from Konoha and that was it.

However with time, as Mishiru did her missions and research, Kenichi’s presence started to soften her. His cheerfulness and goofiness started to crack smiles on her stoic face and the blatant flirtatious behaviour started to make her blush just a small shade.

After her research was done and her skills were no longer needed in Konoha, Mishiru’s heart felt tight, almost physically hurting when it was time to go. Kenichi had had an impact on her, and she liked the change he brought upon her.
And above all, she was gonna miss his presence the most.

The damn redhead made her fall in love with him in such a short time and she was adamant to admit it. She didn’t believe in such things, she had more important things to do!

Kenichi was awfully quiet on her last day, he was sighing a lot and even looked a bit down. It almost looked like they had switched roles.

“Will you stay?” Kenichi asked, staring a her like she had never seen him do.

She was scared. What did that meant? Stay one more day? Stay for the night? And then what? She’d be let go, what was the point?

Her expression must have shown her confusion, fear and hurt, because Kenichi took her hand and brought it to his lips. His stare was intense and resolute.

“Will you stay with me?” And in that moment, Mishiru knew.

Kenichi was more observant than he let on. He knew exactly what to say and do.

She had found home at last.
