“‘Just a weird artist’ Ahdri Kent is an up and coming indie j-alt rock singer/songwriter with a penchant for powerful piano driven anthems and poetic lyrical angst. With a vocal prowess reminiscent of the 90’s and 2000’s femme-god game changers like Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette, and Florence + The Machine, Ahdri weaves a relevant mod tapestry of evocative curiousity and growth driven empowerment. Ahdri’s debut album Penetrome explores the relatable clamor of a queer woman’s emergence from cultural constraint to self realized acceptance and freedom. In her first ever released single and title track Penetrome, Ahdri uses the body of her frustrating experience as a child musician practicing with a metronome, to hold the concept of adult healing in this song. The discipline of breaking generational patterns and the painful handshake that is healing for the payoff of relief if not eventual bliss. Within the container of this push/pull experience, she paints a picture of the Penetrome. The big machine. The psychosexual process to hurt to heal.”
I met Ahdri a few months back and this woman is a GEM. Her most recent album has been a treat to listen to.
