Chiang Mai, also known as the Capital of North Thailand is renowned for its abundant amount of Buddhist temples, 117 can be found in the city’s Muang district with over 200 more spread throughout the region. The history of the Sri Don Chai temple (depicted above) is largely unknown, rumors speculate it was originally called Wat Pa Kluay and was left abandoned until an abbot by the name of Phra Bodhirangsi (พระโพธิรังษี) gathered true believers of Buddha from across the region to help restore the temple to its former glory.
