According to Greek mythology, as told by Plato in his work The Symposium, humans were once whole beings with two faces, four arms, and four legs. They were so powerful that the gods, feeling threatened, split them in two, condemning them to a life of searching for their other half. This yearning for completeness is what we now call soulmates—a search for the person who mirrors our soul and brings us back to that original state of unity. Plato believed that true love was not just physical but spiritual, a reunion of the two halves destined to find each other. To this day, this ancient belief resonates with those who feel an unexplainable connection, as if they’ve known someone for lifetimes. by @a9.shots

Little Italy. Established in the late 19th century, quickly became the heart of the Italian immigrant community, where newcomers from Southern Italy recreated a piece of their homeland through food, language, and traditions. The neighborhood thrived as a cultural hub, known for its Italian eateries, bakeries, and vibrant festivals like the Feast of San Gennaro. Despite the challenges of urban development and demographic shifts, Little Italy remains a symbol of the Italian-American experience, preserving the rich heritage and cultural contributions of its early residents to New York City’s diverse fabric. taken in Little Italy by @a9.shots

1800 by 2000 meters, the size of the moat that surrounds the old city in Chiang Mai. Built over 700 years ago due to military and astrological beliefs, it was designed to appease spirits and gods so they'd protect the city. Ceremonies and festivals dedicated to these protective spirits are still held today such as Loy Krathong (Festival Of Lights). People come together and celebrate under the full moon in November every year, it’s a celebration of life and fortune where you release all of your wrong desires and bad deeds for Buddha to carry away for you. by @a9.shots

Chiang Mai, also known as the Capital of North Thailand is renowned for its abundant amount of Buddhist temples, 117 can be found in the city’s Muang district with over 200 more spread throughout the region. The history of the Sri Don Chai temple (depicted above) is largely unknown, rumors speculate it was originally called Wat Pa Kluay and was left abandoned until an abbot by the name of Phra Bodhirangsi (พระโพธิรังษี) gathered true believers of Buddha from across the region to help restore the temple to its former glory. by @a9.shots

8 months since I’ve last posted… It’s not because I haven’t been taking photos, I’ve taken thousands since then but the problem is I over analyze, critique, and compare them to others. In hopes to get more comfortable with my work I'ma start posting daily since "the persuit of perfection often impedes improvement." - George Will taken in Chiang Mai, Thailand by @a9.shots
