I've known people who paint since I was a kid. Always knocked about with artists and Graff writers but never did I think it was something I could do.

I was always one to work with words, rapping, putting the world to rights on the mic and chatting shit. That was my thing.

But, when I allowed myself to put pencil to paper and put paint on the wall, suspending my self criticism and tolerating my discomfort I found that over time I got better.

I got more comfortable with producing something shit safe in the knowledge that it would get better with practice.

So I practiced. On and off over the last 8 years. Writing tags, throw ups and working on my outlines till I'm now at a stage where I can paint alongside my peers and with the people who inspired me to get up in the first place.

It's also fairly intimidating when you're alongside people who have mastered an art form when you're just at the beginning of your journey. But they should serve as an inspiration instead of a reason not to try.

Moral of the story: It's never too late to start something new. And just because you're not good at something doesn't mean you can't enjoy trying!
