October last year myself and good friend and long time collaborator @dancareless went for a walk.

We'd both been walking/hiking a lot more in recent years, for physical and mental health purposes. And both have a deep connection with nature and the land of our farhers.

The idea was to walk out of the front door, from Treherbert at the top of the Rhondda Valley and walk up into Brecon National Park via Penderyn Reservoir, the Ystradfellte Waterfalls and Fan Llia. Ending up pretty much at Storey Arms and at the foot of Pen Y Fan.

This was definitely my longest walk with us covering around 11 miles on Day 1, 8 miles on Day 2 and around 6 miles on Day 3.

Not massive distances but when you factor in the elevation and me carrying 12kg of camping equipment, 3 days worth of food, clothing etc. Plus I was just previously in recent history a seriously unfit massively fat bastard!

I had an absolute blast painting alongside some of the greats in the graff jam on the boardwalk. I feel so privileged to have had this opportunity @hurts_so_good.uk @bespoken_steve by @bespoken_steve

Yo what's happening!!

Been really busy these last few months. With @the_hold_up planning and firming up the foundations of the organisation. Watch this space!!

Also, been putting in work with @dj_alkemy and @dancareless writing and recording music. Hoping to put at least one project out this year.

Shout out @barryfrombarry on the camera ❤️

Don't know about you but Nature is all the medicine I need.

It's too easy to get caught up in this virtual world or the stress and drama of modern living.

I love getting out into the forests and hills throughout the year and especially around the times of the changing seasons.

I find it helps wash away the bullshit of everyday life and although I often come back knackered after a half day hike I still feel completely relaxed and totally refreshed by it.

Also, I'm never disappointed by the grandeur of the land of our fathers, we have some seriously beautiful spots to enjoy.

My brothers!! @the_hold_up

This shot is from our days at @npcityradio circa 2015 where we ran a 2 hour weekly radio show, showcasing underground Hip-Hop from around the globe.

It was the beginning of us collectively working towards raising up local Hip-Hop and making global connections throughout the wider Hip-Hop communities.

Our story, the work we've done and the origins of our friendship goes much deeper and back further.

From Joe and myself slinging Pizza's together at the turn of the millennium.

From Pun and myself both fronting Rock/Rap/Metal bands based in South Wales playing the same venues and it was years before we even heard of each other.

From Pun then stalking me and my old band 'JuggaNote' in the hopes I would be his hype man for his solo stuff.

From meeting @dj_alkemy on the streets of Newport outside a @skindredmusic gig while myself and @docblackdawho were hanging around handing out promo CDs.

From us being in a rap crew together called 'Knights of Boom' rocking stages and microphones alongside some amazing artists.

To now, where @theholdup is a legit not for profit arts organisation making some serious moves.

A lot goes on that many don't see and most will never know, but the family grows and movement builds momentum.

There's now a lot more heads who rep 'The Hold Up' Heads from around the world who know what we stand for so they stand with us.

Big up all the heads!! You know who you are. We know who you are. Too many to name, but trust the love is there!!

Maybe one day we'll tell the full story.

I've known people who paint since I was a kid. Always knocked about with artists and Graff writers but never did I think it was something I could do.

I was always one to work with words, rapping, putting the world to rights on the mic and chatting shit. That was my thing.

But, when I allowed myself to put pencil to paper and put paint on the wall, suspending my self criticism and tolerating my discomfort I found that over time I got better.

I got more comfortable with producing something shit safe in the knowledge that it would get better with practice.

So I practiced. On and off over the last 8 years. Writing tags, throw ups and working on my outlines till I'm now at a stage where I can paint alongside my peers and with the people who inspired me to get up in the first place.

It's also fairly intimidating when you're alongside people who have mastered an art form when you're just at the beginning of your journey. But they should serve as an inspiration instead of a reason not to try.

Moral of the story: It's never too late to start something new. And just because you're not good at something doesn't mean you can't enjoy trying!
