In April, a close friend informed me about WEDU, a leadership internship program for women, and I enthusiastically signed up despite not knowing what to expect.
Starting on June 1st, I received instructions for my classes and became fully immersed in WEDU despite a busy month filled with appointments and deadlines. The experience proved transformative, offering valuable leadership lessons beyond what I learned in classrooms.
One significant lesson was the concept of "Ikigai," the reason for one's being, which involves discovering personal passions, missions, vocations, and professions. This newfound understanding prompted me to embrace my true self and work towards my dreams, supported by SMART goals. I learned that leadership is not just about titles but an attitude, involving constant self-development and learning. To become a leader, I must possess seven key traits: change-seeking, principled, enterprising, action-oriented, community-focused, risk-taking, and inspirational.
WEDU's smart goal tracker has been instrumental in this journey, it has provided me with a structured approach to personal development.
The ITL(introduction to leadership) program has fostered a mindset shift, transforming me into a proactive woman who values continuous learning and helping others. I developed a better grasp of my passion, mission, dreams, and profession, and my writing skills improved through introspective exercises.
While acknowledging I haven't fully arrived, I am grateful for the tailored steps provided by WEDU. I believe my story will inspire other women to join future sessions because every woman has a role to play in building our desired community
