You carry a sunset on your shoulders

And hell rests around your hips
I sing a sonnet through your pursed lips
Then you piss me off
I reach my inner pitch

My demons screech

watch you as you preach to the sun that it is
Exhaust your exhortations in the sermon of love on the tip of your tongue
While you worship me
Our spitting insults turn into a saliva of salvation
Until the sun sets on your shoulders
And the night is pleasantly warm
The I-love-yous like fireflies outline the shape of our chapel

you pissed me off

I stand in the puddle of my shudders
swearing at the innocent fireflies for being disproportionately beautiful for such moments
Provocative like the most perfect sunset
preventing me from dwelling in my torments
