I’m so excited to officially announce that my new album is called MODERN LIFE, it looks like this, and it’s available now to preorder! (Link in bio)
I know it’s a bit of a cliche artists say about any new release, but this really is my favorite work I’ve done so far. I was motivated after the last album to do something new, to make music that tapped into some of my less-explored sensibilities, and most of all to make a fun album that I would want to listen (and dance) to. Many synthesizers and drum machines later, this is the result, and I’m so excited for you to hear it.
I was inspired this time by 70s/80s European disco and electronic pop producers like Cerrone, The Rah Band, Boney M, and Giorgio Moroder, although other influences will be very apparent to those with ears to hear. Overall, I’d say there’s a much more coherent musical style than on my past albums. I also realized late in the process that it’s my silliest album, and most cynical, to date, which might be why it also feels like one of my most honest works.
Once again, I played all of the instruments, and I mixed it this time again as well. It was mastered by the great @neufeldjon and the design was, of course, by @oliverharlan (with some help from some demonic AI).
The album will be out everywhere on 9/22, but you can hear two tracks—FAULT and BRANDS—today on Bandcamp! Also, today is Bandcamp Friday, and so if you are interested in buying the album, whether digitally or on limited edition CD or cassette, today is the day to do it because I’ll get more of the money!
