Thank you to everyone who came out to @freecyclesmissoula for our show this weekend—and thanks to @thisisnojay for taking tons of fantastic photos! This was truly a dream come true. Massive thanks to Catfish Carl for making it happen and to Sean Eamon for his great set. Hope we’ll be back soon! by @jkbrenneman

Thrilled, honored and terrified to announce that I will be doing my first ever live shows next month, thanks to a generous invite from the one and only Catfish Carl! Friday May 2 in Butte at Pissers Palace and Saturday May 3 in Missoula at @freecyclesmissoula. I’ll be joined by a crack team of musicians, including Ken Grinde, @grindelynbente @freakinajar and @oliverharlan — It’s going to be an exciting time! by @jkbrenneman

Tomorrow! 12-5pm! Musical instruments and gear, records, vintage clothes and much more will be for sale alongside live music and art! by @jkbrenneman

I’ve got a new song out! It’s called “the best” and it was a really fun experiment in stripping away a lot of my usual recording techniques and focusing on simple song structure and arrangement. I recorded most of this to a four track cassette recorder with a few additional overdubs and that’s about it. The sound is rough and kind of unfinished and I like it that way!

I’ve got a bunch of new material that I’d like to think will be finished for an album soon, but here’s a teaser in the meantime. Also, today’s Bandcamp Friday so if you’re seeing this and want to make a purchase on my Bandcamp page, feel free!

Cassettes are here! by @jkbrenneman

Today’s the day! My new album, Modern Life, is out now! If you haven’t heard, this one is sort of my ode to classic 70s/80s European disco producers. At least, that’s how it started out. Over the course of the year it developed into its own thing, and whatever it is now I’m very proud of it, I had a blast making it, and I hope you enjoy listening to it. Which you can now do, everywhere! (Link in bio)

Thanks once again to @oliverharlan for his incomparable design work and general consultation and @neufeldjon for his beautiful mastering. The two of them make my music look and sound as good as possible. Thanks to @kengrinde for these spur of the moment promotional shots that perfectly captured the unwashed sleaze I was going for. And thanks to all of you who have supported me on my quixotic solo musical journey. Thanks for listening. Enjoy! by @jkbrenneman

💫 MODERN LIFE: Album Promo 💫

My new album is coming soon and I can’t wait for you to hear all 43 minutes of it. For now, here’s a sample of how it sounds! by @jkbrenneman

MUSIC VIDEO: “Fault” feat. George

As heard on the new album MODERN LIFE available for preorder now on Bandcamp (link in bio)

Thanks to George the Cat for his hard work and for giving me his friends and family rate for his time. by @jkbrenneman

I’m so excited to officially announce that my new album is called MODERN LIFE, it looks like this, and it’s available now to preorder! (Link in bio)

I know it’s a bit of a cliche artists say about any new release, but this really is my favorite work I’ve done so far. I was motivated after the last album to do something new, to make music that tapped into some of my less-explored sensibilities, and most of all to make a fun album that I would want to listen (and dance) to. Many synthesizers and drum machines later, this is the result, and I’m so excited for you to hear it.

I was inspired this time by 70s/80s European disco and electronic pop producers like Cerrone, The Rah Band, Boney M, and Giorgio Moroder, although other influences will be very apparent to those with ears to hear. Overall, I’d say there’s a much more coherent musical style than on my past albums. I also realized late in the process that it’s my silliest album, and most cynical, to date, which might be why it also feels like one of my most honest works.

Once again, I played all of the instruments, and I mixed it this time again as well. It was mastered by the great @neufeldjon and the design was, of course, by @oliverharlan (with some help from some demonic AI).

The album will be out everywhere on 9/22, but you can hear two tracks—FAULT and BRANDS—today on Bandcamp! Also, today is Bandcamp Friday, and so if you are interested in buying the album, whether digitally or on limited edition CD or cassette, today is the day to do it because I’ll get more of the money!

Thanks again for all of your support so far. I really can’t wait for you to hear this one. by @jkbrenneman
