Don’t hate me. If only I could send you the wonderful smell. Breathe deep. I did move the candle after starting the fire. I always keep the first fires of the season small. I start them in the evening just to take the chill out of the house.
It’s working. I need to warm up some leftover chicken wild rice soup and toast up a slice of zucchini, cheese, scallion bread to go with. In spite of everything I am in my happy place. I gathered some twigs off the deck for kindling and always leave small seasoned firewood from the previous year for the first fire of the season.

When I grew up, we heated our home with a wood-burning stove exclusively. I miss it. ❤️

What a wonderful evening! Miss those kind of fires. That and a rocker… oh and that yummy dinner.. it would be like a slice of paradise!
