How I maximize my productivity as a 4.0 (D1) Pre-med student-athlete :)
1. Hard tasks first - Tackling your most challenging tasks when your energy and focus are at their peak (early morning is best for me) allows you to make significant progress. This sets a productive tone for the rest of the day and helps you complete tasks more efficiently!
2. 5-minute rule - This rule encourages you to start a task with a commitment to working on it for just five minutes. The idea is that once you begin, you’re likely to overcome the initial resistance and continue working on the task for longer than five minutes which in turn increases productivity :)
3. Pomodoro technique - this technique is designed to improve productivity and focus by breaking work into short, timed intervals. My method is to work on tasks for an hour straight without any distractions (phone, etc.) and then take a 10 minute break after. Traditionally, most people utilize a 25 minute block with a 5 minute break afterwards. Every individual is different so try different time blocks and do whatever works best for you :)
