Picnic Room

In a household where shoes need to be taken off before entering, it always feels nice to have a dedicated sitting area to remove/put on your shoes, before you enter your home or to wipe your dog down from a dirty walk or sanitise (covid ptsd) before you enter your home.

This threshold was designed as a double-sided bookshelf that creates this exact space and acts as shield of the living room from the gaze of strangers at the gate. It means full ventilation and comfort for anyone lounging in the living room.

Process images: 2-4, showing the construction of the shelf that fit the original divisions of the ceiling battens coincidentally and perfectly.
