Follow a 6 year timeline with me !!!!!!!
2019: On the day I was supposed to move into university, my mom and I lost our housing. After making calls to my coaches and teachers, we moved to North Philly that night to stay with my coach Wylik’s girlfriend. My mom had no job at the time because of an injury at work. One of the hardest parts of this journey was having to give up boxing to take on responsibilities.
I enrolled in community college and got a fast food job to provide for my mother and myself. I was blessed to connect with my mentor, Dana Christian (
@iamdanachristian ), who gave me the knowledge I carry today. A few months later, we moved back to Southwest Philly to stay with my other godfather, Mr. Tone.
2020: I joined the military, a big sacrifice because I had to leave my mom for a while. After completing Basic Training and AIT, I returned home, ready to go back to school. Instead, I was welcomed home and told to get ready for Deployment🥺.
2021: I was deployed to the Middle East, leaving my mom for almost a year. During this time, she lost a lot of weight from stress, not sleeping, and not eating.
2022: I returned home from deployment and hit the ground running, trying out different hustles. I finally gave in to my passion for training in boxing and fitness, teaming up with my cousin
@frizzyeffect , and the rest is history.
2023: I tried different jobs here and there, but nothing felt like owning my own business or making money with my hands. I lost one or two jobs along the way. So I quit working.
2024: I promised my mom she wouldn’t have to rent anymore by the end of the year. I got a job to use my VA loan. While working full-time and being a full-time student, my cousin and I kept building our fitness business, making connections, and landing partnerships. Fast forward, I closed on the house my mom picked (it was a fight and stressful).
October 5, 2024: I surprised my mother with her own home. Best day of my life 🥹.
Moral of the story: It took six years of failure, pain, dedication, and hard work to reach this one moment.
