a little escape

The day after Duct Tape Drags is always a slow and contemplative one for me as I hop in the car and drive home solo. This year’s event at Firebird Motorsports Park was absolutely bonkers. I cut back the number of race car entries so everyone could get more laps more easily, but the crowd was like 50% larger than ever. It’s amazing to think we could pack the left-side grandstands at an NHRA national-event facility, all for a bunch of beater cars running mostly 13s to 15s.

I heard so many stories of people making personal adventures and achieving private goals, and of bringing their family together, and of meeting new friends. It’s magical.

This event is truly shaped by the character of the participants and spectators who understand how to get so much joy from very average cars. Don’t get it right, just get it running. I thank you all for showing up.

Greatest thanks also to my partners in this deal, Derek and Jessica Bieri, and to my TV friends who helped make it special: Lucky, Dulcich, Tony, Finnegan, and Chappelle. Behind the scenes, Jenny and Michelle ultimately make the whole thing happen.

I’m sure there will be many opinions of what was done right and wrong at the event. I listen to those things with a discerning ear. Last year’s feedback led to some changes for 2026 that seemed to really work. As for the change of venue, Firebird was spectacular. It certainly is not as homey as Tucson, and the camping spots are not as nicely located, but most people agreed that the added space and in/out gates really worked. Plus there were just SO many more spectators.

We also made the change so Derek and I (and the other hosts, as it turned out) were on site all day Friday and Saturday, and that seemed positive.

I did meet one guy who was able to complain about free beer. Skills.

I welcome your input, and thank you all very much for turning a simple event into a phenomenon.

What I would wear if I was in The Matrix.

Have a safe and happy Sunday lovely Instas.

Marie xoxo 💋😘♥️

because you’ve been playing chess your whole life 🥹

Omg, do you seriously like me that much?! 🙈💞 Hehe, I knew you couldn’t resist my charm! ✨😜 Stop making me blush, okay? 🥺👉👈

my third show walking for @victoriassecret , and it has me reflecting on how i got here 🤍 I didn’t book my first until my mid-30s… three babies, two years postpartum, every reason to believe that door had closed.

Turns out it was never closed. Whatever obstacle gets put in your way, don’t let it become your absolute.

This is for every woman who’s never seen herself on the runway and gets to now.

I am so grateful for last night, for the women I shared that runway with, and for every step it took. Thank you @victoriassecret and Adam and the whole team.
