If you see something, say something. Speaking up can be tough, especially when it’s someone in a position of authority or experience. But your safety comes first. Talk to others you trust, share your experience, and ask for advice. If things get serious, don’t hesitate to speak with staff or file a report. Your voice matters, and you’re never alone in this.

Where was this account in the 80s? Oh yeah, no internet or social media. 😂 But seriously, I witnessed so much physical and verbal abuse in my day and personally experienced sexual harassment many times from VERY legendary staff members. Being one of the first women in SCV’s percussion section, it was overall wonderful but the bad memories pop up from time to time and it still hurts. It was a product of its time, but I’m glad there are processes in place now to combat those things.
