Today we’re making Persian rice with the most beautiful, golden tahdig. Tahdig is that crispy layer at the bottom of the pot and honestly, it’s the best part. Every kitchen has its own way of making it, and this is one of my favorite versions.

I’m adding barberries, these tiny little ruby-red berries that have a bright, slightly tangy flavor. They bring the perfect pop of color and just a little tartness that balances the richness of the rice and that golden crust.

Crispy, fragrant, a little sweet, a little tang this is comfort in every bite. #PersianRice #Tahdig #HomeCooking #MiddleEasternFood

Miss you Spizz!
19 years ago today, we learned my dear friend #AngeloSpizzirri passed away from a self inflicted gun shot wound. We searched for answers for months: was it murder, was it the sleep meds mixed with booze, was it an accident, did he really want to escape? So many questions. If you're struggling with depression, PLEASE do me a favor and hand a friend your firearms and ask for help! You are special, you are loved and you are important to someone who will miss you very much, even if you don't believe that in this moment! I don't think Spizz would've ever guessed that about 500 people would show at his funeral.
Get help today if you're struggling! And go watch Groove, the Rookie or Jesus, Mary and Joey (im in that one too) in honor of my roommate and "big brother"
Spizz.
