I have a story to tell!
So, the introduction of electric-powered buses by the government at this time and the news of e-ticket payment systems to facilitate the transportation hustle of everyday commuters interestingly brings to mind a commercial project I directed a few years back, at a similar period of our nation and date, 6-Dec. The project: The AAYALOLO Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS), TV Commercial for the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
The story of the execution of this project starts somewhere in 2011/12 during my time as a Senior Creative Copywriter at Origin8 Saatchi & Saatchi. I was the copywriter on the agency creative team assigned on the pitch project to the ministry, which we won. Excitedly, we looked forward to the actual implementation of the project by the government/ministry and the subsequent execution of our integrated marketing and advertising concepts!
Yet, sadly, the project was not implemented by the then government during my years at the agency.
Fast forward to Nov. 2016, out of the agency and as a freelance productions director, I get called to share my director's treatment on a possible production; one can only imagine my total surprise to find out that the possible TV commercial was a script and pitch project I had worked on a few years back at the same agency! I vowed to win the director’s treatment pitch for this commercial. Guess what? I won!
The launch of the Aayalolo transport system within that same period placed an immediate urgency on the execution of this TV commercial. Thankfully, with my assembled production team and agency production managers, we hit the road running. Expertly and creatively, we pulled off a smooth and timely execution of this production, which was put on air, December 6th, 2016.
BIG cheers to the CAST & CREW!
