Meet Gijs (he/him), the youngest of the 𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦-coven and the middle child in his family- poor guy! Even though Gijs is the youngest, he has already lived several lives. Starting in Haarlem, where he was born, Gijs was the only child who articulated well enough in his school play- at least that’s what his mother told him. That’s when Gijs’ journey began.
He became a young ambassador of the ‘Schuurjongeren’, recited his poems in book shops and gave two Ted Talks- don’t look it up! Gijs was so afraid of death as a child that he wanted to become a vampire. What can we say, he’s a poet, people!
Gijs will be finishing his studies this year in Performance at Toneelacademie Maastricht. Did you know, he was yellow once? Besides telling stories on stage, Gijs has some pretty crazy real-life stories up his sleeve which he will gladly share with you in company of a Hertog Jan. A hospital in Thailand once greeted him like a regular visitor and for some reason Gijs knows a lot about chickens. Also, Gijs needs his cigarette breaks. And please remember, in any circumstance, don’t pass the helium to Gijs!
He’s really looking forward to plunge himself into the different projects that NITE has to offer, to learn from the different experiences and see what that can bring him as a performer, as a maker, as a person. Together with his lovely colleagues.
