Katie Zacharia’s brief tenure as White House press secretary ended Friday after only five days on the job, making her the shortest-serving person in the role in modern U.S. history.

President Donald Trump announced Zacharia’s appointment on October 9 as the successor to Karoline Leavitt. She officially began the role on October 12. Her first and only briefing in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room took place the following day and lasted roughly 14–15 minutes. She took a limited number of questions, primarily from conservative-leaning outlets, and the performance drew widespread criticism for its brevity, reliance on prepared remarks, and overall delivery.

Compounding the scrutiny was the revelation about her legal credentials. Zacharia, a 2011 graduate of Pepperdine University’s Caruso School of Law, had repeatedly described herself as a lawyer and was introduced by Trump as an “attorney.” She later confirmed she sat for the California bar exam in 2011 but did not pass and never became licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.

The issue intensified after she gave an unclear response when asked where she had passed the bar, and a complaint was filed with the California State Bar Association regarding whether she had improperly held herself out as entitled to practice law.

On Friday, Trump told reporters outside the White House that he had spoken with Zacharia and suggested she “reconsider” the position. He said he told her she did not need the job and expressed concern that she might not be happy in it, while also criticizing the media’s coverage of her. Shortly afterward, White House officials confirmed she was transitioning out of the role. Reports described the move variously as her being let go or fired. It remains unclear whether she will take another position in the administration or Trump’s orbit.

Zacharia’s five-day tenure is shorter than Anthony Scaramucci’s 11-day stint as White House communications director in 2017. The rapid exit returns the White House communications operation to a period of uncertainty ahead of the midterm elections.

Some of Michael Jackson’s most legendary fashion pieces are returning to the auction block, and collectors could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to own a piece of music history.

Four items worn by the late King of Pop in 1983 will headline Julien’s Auctions’ Michael Jackson: The Fashion Legacy Evening Auction on December 7, 2026, in Abu Dhabi.

Among the biggest attractions is Jackson’s rhinestone-covered glove from his historic Motown 25 performance, where he introduced his famous moonwalk while performing “Billie Jean.” The glove is estimated to sell for $600,000 to $800,000, significantly more than the $430,000 it fetched in 2009.

Also available is Jackson’s unforgettable red-and-black leather jacket from the “Thriller” music video. Designed by Deborah Nadoolman Landis, the jacket was one of only two created for the production. It previously sold for $1.8 million in 2011.

Two pairs of black Florsheim loafers are also included. One pair was worn during “Thriller” filming and rehearsals, while the other was used during rehearsals for Motown 25. The latter could fetch $60,000 to $80,000.

“It is a true privilege to offer these pieces of history again,” Julien’s Auctions co-founder Martin Nolan said.

Before the December sale, the memorabilia will be displayed internationally, including stops in Japan and Bahrain.

More than 17 years after Jackson’s d*ath at age 50, his cultural influence continues to command extraordinary prices.

One of my rules of investing is that I never let any stock become more than 5% of my portfolio and I never let any sector become more than 20%. When a stock becomes more than 5% I sell it down just like I did with Tesla. My cost basis is zero. It doesn’t matter what happens with Tesla, I made a ton of money on it by following this rule.
