The Goalie Workshop

One of the things that makes TGW different is the collective experience our coaches bring to the table coupled with their willingness to allow goalies to do what makes them feel physically comfortable.

Coach Cash’s point here is a classic traditional goalie coaching point: “Eye, Thumb, Ball”. Keep your thumb in line with your eye to keep your hands and stick in a place that can keep your movement efficient. But it’s important to remember that there are a ton of ways to be efficient playing goalie. Some goalies play better with their top hand in line with the shoulder, some above their forehead. Eye thumb ball doesn’t work for everyone but it’s a great teaching point for a goalie that might be having some issues with hand placement and being efficient getting to the ball.
