Dream come true gig! Getting to play with the Grafitti Band with Bob Glaub on bass and my father on the drums, having seen them play so much as a little kid. We backed up Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal and Joy Harjo during the event that was put on by the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa. This tribute was to celebrate the life and amazing career of the Native American guitarist Jesse Ed Davis, who my father, and so many of his friends where our family came from in Venice CA, had the pleasure of playing music with around the last few decades of his life. I was about 11 when he died but I have vivid memories of hanging around the band with Jesse. He was an amazing, warm person and a genius musician. If you aren’t familiar, start with the first 3 Taj Mahal records. After that there are so many great recordings he played on with the likes of Dylan, Browne, John Lennon, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Harry Nilsson, Gene Clark and countless others.
