A disturbing video circulating online reportedly shows a man in a South Carolina parking lot pouring what appears to be sugar into the gas tank of a parked black SUV before getting into a silver Nissan Maxima and driving away. LET’S TALK ABOUT HOW DANGEROUS AND COSTLY THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR CAN BE. Sugar does not dissolve in gasoline, but it can contaminate a vehicle’s fuel system, clog filters, interfere with fuel delivery, and potentially lead to expensive repairs. Imagine getting into your car to go to work, pick up your children, or handle an emergency, only to discover someone deliberately tampered with your vehicle! WHAT MAKES SOMEONE BELIEVE THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DESTROY ANOTHER PERSON’S PROPERTY? Whatever disagreement or personal issue may have led to this incident, damaging someone’s vehicle is not an acceptable response. Tampering with a gas tank can create financial hardship, leave someone stranded, and potentially create safety risks. THIS IS WHY CAMERAS AND ACCOUNTABILITY MATTER. If investigators confirm what happened, the person responsible should face appropriate legal consequences and be held financially accountable for the damage.
