It has been difficult to find time to make music since my last release over 900 days ago but I have been back in the studio since mid 2024 working on material regularly. Today it feels good to share my work again.

Pre-game warm-up with @ZoeLivay! 🎶🤩

Your screen isn’t struggling to load these images. The objects really look like that.

French designer Jonas Hejduk brings the appearance of low-resolution graphics into the physical world through crash.jpeg. Blurry woven rugs and an upholstered bench disguised as a poorly rendered tree trunk turn familiar objects into something your eyes keep trying to bring into focus. The bench’s bark-like surface is printed fabric, combining traditional upholstery with the visual language of digital textures.

Started in 2021, the project follows an imaginary scenario: a meteorite hits Earth and mysteriously lowers the resolution of everything around it. Instead of making objects sharper and more detailed, Hejduk deliberately removes visual information, creating a world that seems permanently stuck halfway through loading.

Behind the humor is a question about our appetite for ever-clearer digital imagery. Images may feel weightless, but storing and sharing them depends on physical infrastructure and energy. Hejduk uses this fictional, blurry world to explore our relationship with technology, consumption, and the idea that higher definition always means progress.

Jerome Polin menyoroti fenomena kemiskinan struktural di Indonesia. Lewat utas di Threads, ia mengingatkan bahwa kerja keras gak selalu menjamin seseorang bisa hidup sejahtera.

Jerome mencontohkan pekerja seperti guru honorer, tenaga kesehatan, hingga tukang becak yang sudah bekerja keras, tetapi masih kesulitan secara ekonomi karena penghasilan yang terbatas.

Menurutnya, kesejahteraan seseorang gak hanya ditentukan oleh usaha pribadi, tetapi juga sistem dan kebijakan yang memengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat.

Ia turut membagikan pengalamannya saat tinggal dan kuliah di Jepang. Jerome melihat teman-temannya yang bekerja paruh waktu di restoran, toko pakaian, hingga minimarket tetap bisa menikmati hiburan seperti pergi ke Disneyland, nongkrong di kafe, hingga membeli gadget terbaru.

Pengalaman tersebut membuatnya memahami bahwa pekerjaan dan tingkat usaha yang sama bisa menghasilkan tingkat kesejahteraan berbeda, tergantung sistem di negara tempat seseorang tinggal.

Meski begitu, Jerome gak menampik bahwa faktor individu, seperti kedisiplinan dan cara memanfaatkan waktu, juga dapat memengaruhi kondisi ekonomi seseorang.

Namun, ia mengingatkan agar masyarakat gak langsung menganggap semua orang yang hidup susah sebagai pemalas. Sebab, ada pula hambatan struktural yang membuat seseorang kesulitan memperbaiki kondisi ekonominya.

Lewat pandangannya, Jerome mengajak masyarakat melihat kemiskinan secara lebih menyeluruh, bukan hanya dari seberapa keras seseorang bekerja, tetapi juga dari kesempatan, upah, dan sistem yang memengaruhi kehidupannya.
