Debra Rice

I created this coil-built vase for the @rva4cerfplus fundraiser to represent the craft community’s connection through the best of times and, more recently, the worst. Combining clay, wood and metal, this piece reflects artists of different mediums supporting one another.

I named it “Resilience” to represent the spirit of countless craft artists who lost everything to Hurricane Helene. 100% of the proceeds from this auction go to @cerfplus (Craft Emergency Relief Fund), to provide critical support and resources as those artists continue to face countless challenges.

So far, RVA4CERF+ has raised a significant amount from online bids (LINK IN BIO), and our exhibition at @visartsrva True F. Luck Gallery has seen great attendance.

But we’re hoping for even more within the final 24 hours! Bidding closes Friday at 8 PM, and we’re wrapping the exhibition up with a Closing Reception from 6–8 PM. We’d love to see a big crowd to celebrate this meaningful effort.

It’s been an honor to work on this project with @christineorrstudios, @jaydan.moore, and the over 60 talented Richmond-area artists who donated their beautiful work. Huge thanks to our generous community sponsors, and endless gratitude to the Visual Arts Center for their guidance, support, and for hosting us in such a stunning space.

Oh and the vase is a big one— 9.5”W x 8”D x 14”H to the top of the wooden balls.
