To Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay Subject: Request to stop granite mining in E. Malampatti village Respected Chief Minister Anna, Vanakkam. I am writing this humble request on behalf of the farmers and residents of E. Malampatti and the nearby villages. About 8–9 years ago, granite mining was carried out in our village. During that period, groundwater levels reduced and farming was badly affected. The then District Collector, Thiru U. Sagayam, IAS, stopped the mining operations. After that, groundwater improved, agriculture recovered, and farmers were able to cultivate their lands again. Now we have learned that granite mining may start again. This has created great fear among the people. Nearly 2,000 acres of agricultural land and four villages depend on the same groundwater source for farming and drinking water. If mining resumes, we fear it will once again affect our groundwater, agriculture, and the livelihoods of many farming families. We humbly request you to kindly review this project, inspect the ground situation, and protect our villages, our water resources, and our farmers. We also respectfully request Hon'ble Mining Minister Dr. Prabu Anna to visit E. Malampatti, meet the farmers, and take a fair decision after understanding the ground reality. Chief Minister Anna, we trust your leadership and believe you will protect the interests of farmers and future generations. Kindly help save our land and water. Thank you. Yours faithfully, A concerned resident on behalf of the farmers of E. Malampatti and the surrounding villages.
