When interior designer Whitney Romanoff, her husband Stephen, and their 2-year-old daughter Sofia relocated from California to Arkansas in late 2020, they never fully let go of their West Coast roots. So, when they discovered a 1972 cottage nestled in a cliffside grove by Beaver Lake, its Laurel Canyon-inspired atmosphere immediately captivated them. “We were searching for a tranquil getaway where we could live at our own pace,” says Romanoff, the founder and principal of Meet West Studio.
Though the cabin had undergone several renovations over the years, enough of its original charm remained, sparking the couple’s vision for the space. So taken by its potential, they made an offer, secured the keys, and renamed their new retreat Canyon Grove. They envisioned it as a nostalgic hideaway—a haven where 1970s musicians and creatives could have gathered to unwind, jam, and perhaps create new masterpieces. For Whitney and Stephen, it became a sanctuary where they could enjoy vinyl records, sip coffee while it was still warm, and savor the simple joys of life. Credits:
