A viral Reddit thread titled “We won’t take care of you” is forcing a hard conversation that most families are avoiding. A growing number of adult children are quietly saying they will not, or simply cannot, be their parents’ hands-on caregivers. It is painful to hear, but it exposes a real demographic collision: families are smaller, kids live scattered across states, and the cost of care is staggering. Here is the math nobody wants to face. Roughly 80% of retirees will eventually need long-term support, and home care or a facility can run anywhere from $75,000 to over $200,000 a year. And the biggest myth of all: Medicare pays $0 for ongoing custodial care, the daily help with bathing, dressing, meals, and dementia supervision that most people actually need. So the real takeaway is not resentment, it is planning. Build your own “Plan B” before you need it. Understand that Medicaid audits five years of your finances under the “look-back rule,” so never transfer your home or money without a certified elder law attorney. Name a healthcare proxy and power of attorney now. And reframe what you ask of your kids, not time or money, but advocacy: reviewing bills, joining doctor calls, and watching for fraud. Have you had the kitchen-table conversation yet? #Caregiving #LongTermCare #AgingInPlace
Does taking a GLP hurt? If you’ve ever wondered this… You’re not alone! It’s one of the top questions people have! Almost every single week I have to double check that my d0se even went in. I hardly ever feel it in my stomach or my thigh. But this week I wanted to try something different. I’m up on the scale, and I’ve gotten a bit bored of the other locations. Some people find that different locations have different results for them and how they feel the med throughout the week. So I’m trying the back of the arm… Please let me know how the arm treated you if you’ve ever done this location? Did it work or not?!
