जय माँ काली*** बहुत बहुत धन्यवाद महादेव 🙏🏻

“This bed has held me for my whole life, I feel so sad that it will never hold me again.” - Pippa. Age 5.

Among one hundred other very emotional things she said as she sobbed for HOURS on the day she agreed to let us put the big beds together. She made us all climb into the cot for one final family hug, and promise her we’d keep it for her future children 😂

I’d had the bug beds in storage for over a year, and every time I suggested it she would beg us not to, and show me how she still had plenty of room in her cot, so I just waited until she said she was ready… but even then, we had to give her a whole day to grieve (and eventually called my Mum to take her for a play and a a little emotional reset while we assembled the new ones 😅).

Anyway, long story short, here’s the long overdue bedroom refresh. Still a few things to add, but it feels good and everyone loves it now, I promise 🥰

One in four care leavers in Northern Ireland are not in education, employment or training. Two-thirds experience homelessness within ten years of leaving care.

At The Commons in Belfast, bringing together young people, employers and frontline organisations involved in NEON - the business-led network from @homewardsuk helping young people overcome barriers through employment, relationships, support networks and opportunities to develop independence.

Launched in Northern Ireland in 2025, NEON was the first test of how a business-led, jobs-first model could help prevent homelessness through employment. Now, for the first time, NEON Chairs from across the Homewards locations came together with employers and frontline organisations to learn how this could be scaled across the UK.
