Becoming a Park Ranger was the best thing that has ever happened to me.
I left the Marine Corps with absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I had no purpose and no home, but the National Park Service gave me exactly that.
In my time as a Ranger I met the most incredible people and saw the most incredible things and it saved me. I was jaded and I was mean, but getting to wear that uniform and feel like I was genuinely making a difference changed my life completely. It’s the reason I’m where I am today.
America is home to some of the most beautiful lands in the world and it needs stewards to protect them and tell their stories.
“There is nothing more American than our National Parks”
So protect them.

Ha I can’t imagine you being mean. I’ve come across a lot of jaded and/or mean people in the parks, and you are definitely not one of them. Truly, Mark, you are one of my favorites with whom I’ve had the pleasure of working. Glad we were able to cross paths on your journey!
