(This time with audio) A short peak at some of our work on Charles Yu’s Interior Chinatown series (based on his equally brilliant book). We developed a look that references the spectrum of genres the show travels through and the light emitting RGB optics of CRT video games in the 1990s.
For this scene, on a practical set, we captured each take under multiple lighting setups simultaneously using our PlateLight technology. This allowed us to change, control and shape our live action lighting in post, in response to performance and edit, while also sculpting the ‘void’ environment through an interplay of light and optics.
Feeling very lucky to have worked with such a collaborative and talented team, including Stephanie Laing and Mike Berlucci, this scene starring Jimmy O, Yang and Chris Pang. The whole season is fantastic.
