We said goodbye to Kolo this morning. She got into a scrap in the backyard the other night and the injuries proved too much for her, but thankfully she seemed peaceful and comfortable in her last day and night. She was a great cat and lived a nice long life to the age of 18. So many memories - from being just kids in Ann Arbor when we first took her home, delighting in her kitten wildness, to lazy saturdays with her in Chicago apartments, to watching Lucy and Violet play with her. I explained about Kolo dying to the girls and Violet said Kolo was “going to another house” which is a nice way to think about it. I’m so glad I got to share such a full part of my life with this hilarious creature, and that the girls got to know her. I’m so glad so many people I love got to pet her and, if they petted her in slightly the wrong way, got a little bite from her. We’ll miss you Kolo.
