"Forbidden or permitted, danced by men or women, in secret or in public, at weddings or on stage—the folk dances of Central and Southwest Asia have been passed down and continuously transformed for centuries through migration along the Silk Road. VASHT aims to destabilize the assumed linearity of dance genealogies and celebrates the richness of this cultural heritage and its resilient beauty, transcending narrow (Western) concepts of contemporary dance and advocating for a complex, political dance historiography."

"ممنوع یا مجاز، اجرا شده توسط مردان یا زنان، در خفا یا در ملأعام، در عروسی‌ها یا بر روی صحنه، رقص‌های  مردمی آسیای مرکزی و جنوب غربی طی قرن‌ها از طریق مهاجرت‌ها منتقل شده و پیوسته دگرگون شده‌اند.

وشت در پی به چالش کشیدن خطی بودن فرضی تبارشناسی رقص است. غنای این میراث فرهنگی و زیبایی مقاوم آن را پاس می‌دارد، از چارچوب‌های محدود رقص معاصر (غربی) فراتر می‌رود و خواستار روایتی پیچیده، سیاسی و چندلایه از تاریخ رقص است."
