I only own 3 pairs of shoes for the entire year. And nope, none of them are sneakers. 🙅‍♀️

Each pair was purchased secondhand, and I intentionally choose genuine leather because, unlike synthetic alternatives like vegan leather, it can be repaired and maintained for the long haul.

This is my actual, year-round lineup for everything from hiking to going out for dinner.
👢 Knee-high boots – My daily workhorses for dust and trails.
🤍 White booties – My go-to for a polished look.
🩴 Flip flops – For warm days and quick transitions.

Why no sneakers? My lifestyle just doesn't require them, so I don't own them.

(Fine print: I do own specialized gear for seasonal mountain sports, including a pair of thrifted golf shoes I’ve used for mountain biking and water activities for 10 years. If it works, it works! 🤷‍♀️)

The Takeaway: Notice what you actually reach for. The shoes at the front of your rack are your true essentials—the rest are just collecting dust.

This lineup fits my climate and my style. Yours might look completely different, and that’s the beauty of it.

✨ Follow for practical minimalism, intentional style, and real-life capsule wardrobe tips—and to make sure you don't miss my upcoming post unveiling my full capsule wardrobe lineup!

👇 How many pairs of shoes do you actually wear?

It’s called the mental load for a reason, because it’s truly a load.

There is so much to think about and plan and organize when it comes to running a household and raising kids. No wonder moms are burning out when they are the ones carrying the majority of it.

I choose to believe that there are many men in relationships with women who genuinely think that asking for a list is a normal and logical thing to do.

But it’s not the answer.

Frankly, it just adds more work to the plate of their partners. It’s just another thing to do. It’s another thing to remember.

Let’s stop assuming that every part of managing the household is a woman’s responsibility to begin with, and start having open honest conversations early on about what mental parts of managing the household can be redivided.

What things can you redivide at home? Do you struggle to talk about the mental load?

Comment “Honest Motherhood” and I will send you the link to my memoir where I share my own journey with breaking from carrying too much in motherhood.
