Who is Leo? Brother of Lucas, son of Natasha, a mum that deserves a medal for the lengths she goes to for her boys. I first met them during Covid when I got a message from Darren in the UK asking if I could help these two boys who just started skating and lived in my area, I said sure , how bad could they be? Ooofff if I survived the first session with these two then I knew we would be friends for life😂, let’s just say things got better with each session and they quickly learnt the rules and etiquette of navigating a skate park, being safe, learning lines and then slowly implementing some tricks. They were good kids, but it wasn’t easy, skating can be dangerous, but eventually they trusted in me enough to listen half the time, I’ve seen them grow and help others, be kind n helpful to other learner skaters, always encouraging others and enjoying themselves in the process, their skating has come along way purely because of their determination and persistence, with my help, the airborne academy , and others they have learnt trick after trick, even competing on street courses and putting lines together. I never thought I’d see the day. I’m proud of them bith. What I didn’t know until later was that Leo spent a lot of time in hospital as a kid, and never really got to do any sport or challenge himself in any way, so it makes sense to me now when I look back why he latched on so hard to skating and why he loves it so much, not a natural by any means, but I can honestly say I’ve met few skaters young or old that have his courage, he’s a fighter, and even though he would be shivering in fear, literally, he would stand on top of an obstacle, and do it, sometimes before his older brother Lucas. I called him Leo the Lion, he wouldn’t give up, he would stack and get back up, ask me where he went wrong , try again another way until he succeeded, he got my respect early on and I appreciate the trust he had in me when I told him he could do it, he proved me right. So ,,, happy bday to you young man, keep enjoying ur skating and being a good respectful young man, I’m proud of you Leo.
