Season one bloopers from the official #HeatedRivalry DVD set!

I found out what my username means this weekend.

For the first 23 years of my life, all I knew was organized athletics. Training several hours a day with one goal in mind: Win. Win the race. Win the game. Win the match. But one day, the ball stopped bouncing. Everything I knew about what it meant to compete, train, and remain healthy was flipped upside down, and I had to relearn what that meant for me. And that’s where the idea of being a Semi-Retired Athlete was born. At first it was learning how to go into a gym and lift without a strength coaching giving me a piece of paper to follow. Then it was learning what aerobic endurance was when I trained for my first half marathon in 2024. And then finally, this weekend completing my third world major marathon in Chicago. But it wasn’t until this weekend that I truly found out what my goal was in this entire process of navigating life as a Semi-Retired Athlete. And that’s because the goal is now ambiguous. There is no “winning” anymore. The goal can be whatever I want. And on Sunday, I found out what that goal is for me: to have fun. I don’t want to be the fastest. I don’t want to PB. I literally want to go out and have fun. Maybe that means doing a keg stand at Mile 24 of a marathon. Maybe that means running out of storage in the middle of the marathon because I was recording myself singing @remiwolf too many times. Maybe that means waking up every Wednesday at 4am to go run with @run0440. Maybe that means doing a @hyroxworld in Barcelona with zero training and zero time goal in mind.

It means training to feel GOOD and doing it with the people I love.

And there might come a day again when I want to be the best - PB a race, maybe come in 1st place at something. But right now, that’s just not for me. And that’s the point. I can choose whatever I want my goal to be.

I have never enjoyed fitness more in my life. And that is what being a Semi-Retired Athlete is.

Go have some fun.

New movie coming sooon😏

I am thrilled to announce that I am a certified ADHD Coach AND AuDHD Coach, certified by @adhdworks. After receiving ADHD coaching funded by Access to Work with @leannemaskell a couple of years ago, I knew I wanted to one-day train to be an ADHD coach myself - and now I have! I bring over nine years experience working in the NHS, with four years experience as a mental health nurse & Specialist ADHD Nurse. I am currently working with those aged 18+, but hope to expand to 16-18 year olds soon.

Coaching is about learning to work with your brain rather than against it. I am trained using the @adhdworks Executive Functioning Framework and AuDHD Paradox Framework, with sessions focused on self-awareness, problem solving, motivation, impulsivity, memory, emotional regulation, communication, executive functioning, energy, managing relationships, managing emotions and processing styles but everything can be individually tailored to you and your needs.

For any enquiries, please contact me on itsemilykaty@gmail.com, or fill out the form on my website - www.authenticallyemily.uk/coaching.

I look forward to hearing from you. 🥳

STEVE NASH SPENT HIS CAREER MAKING EVERYONE AROUND HIM BETTER. BUT HIS OWN LIFE WASN’T A PERFECT STORY. 💔

November 2010.

Steve Nash had just welcomed his third child into the world. It should have been one of the happiest moments of his life.

But alongside the birth announcement came another revelation.

His marriage was ending.

Nash revealed that he and his wife had been living separately for months and were in the process of dissolving their marriage. He called it a “bittersweet moment.”

Think about that.

A man who spent years controlling the pace of an NBA game couldn’t control what was happening in his own home.

Then the rumors started.

Whispers spread online linking his wife to former teammate Jason Richardson. People speculated about the baby and tried to turn a painful private separation into an NBA scandal. Those allegations were never reliably established, but the rumors kept circulating.

And that is what makes this story so sad.

Behind the MVP trophies, the assists, and the beautiful basketball, there was a man going through a deeply personal change while the world watched and speculated.

Nash didn’t turn his family’s situation into a public war. Instead, he asked for privacy and emphasized that his children needed to know how loved they were.

THAT PART DESERVES MORE ATTENTION THAN THE GOSSIP.

Because sometimes, the person who makes an entire arena smile is fighting a battle nobody in the crowd can see.

Steve Nash could find the perfect pass through five defenders.

But life doesn’t always give you a clear lane.

And sometimes, even the greatest playmakers can’t make everything work.
