THIAGO HAS BEEN UNDER THIS BED FOR A MONTH. Suburbs friends, please share this miserable dog! Or city friends with suburbs friends, or anyone, please just share — poor Thiago needs your help. This very scared Chiweenie is 4 years old, 17 lbs, and one of the pups we rescued from the nasty hoarding case in Puerto Rico earlier this year. Over 40 dogs were found tied up living in their own waste in an overgrown yard, and a neglected special needs child was on the property. The adults responsible were arrested. This is to say, Thiago had a rough start to life. He’s gentle though and housebroken/pad trained, just so scared in NYC. He’s been with one of our directors the past month, and even having three confident dogs around has done little to help him decompress — he’s starting to come around but needs a quiet environment with very patient humans and another dog out of the city for an 8-week min commitment. He recently started prozac to help make the world less scary, and it takes at least 30 days to really kick in. His foster mom says: “Thiago is a very sweet and charming boy… when you get glimpses of him during meals. He very much wants to be a brave boy, he’ll wag his tail and nervously look at you then wait for you to walk away before he eats. This poor dog is really stuck in his head and won’t leave his safe spot — has only been forced outside once to go to the vet. We’re looking for a really special family to help him with his next step. Ideally his foster home has room to set up a pen and crate area (we can provide) so he’s safe but being part of the family — engaging from afar but ignored. We know he’s potty trained so a safe yard to do his business would rock and some fresh air would be wonderful for his mental health. We know there’s a wonderful animal buried deep inside of him, and we’re hoping someone is patient enough to help us dig him out.” PEASE HELP! Pickup is ASAP in the East Village or Clinton Hill, BK. Fostering lasts 8+ weeksweeks. If you can give this lovely pup a temp home, please submit the foster app at socialteesnyc.org and email foster@socialteesnyc.org now!!! ELIGIBLE FOR OUR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT PROGRAM.
